Georgina began her career As a Health Care Assistant in Vascular Surgery and later HPB and Colorectal Surgery. She has completed the NVQ3 and trained as an Assistant Practitioner she became a Discharge Support Assistant and now works with the HPB Nurse Specialist Team. She has worked for the NHS for 22 years.
Georgina joined the UHL HPB Nurse Specialist team as an HPB Clinical Support Worker in February 2020. Her main responsibilities include working closely with the HPB Nurse Specialists and multidisciplinary team is to support the health and wellbeing of our patients and their families. She helps support patients with cancer and complex benign diseases through their diagnostic and treatment pathways and carries out holistic needs assessment for patients and carers. This is a vital role and ensures that patients receive all the information they need and in addition, explains about other support services that are available and how to access them. These support services are a crucial part of the recovery package and she has a pivotal role in coordinating our patient’s support groups for patients and carers.
