  • Biography:

A Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Consultant Surgeon with a focus on complex liver and pancreatic resections, including oncovascular resection and a passion for advancing healthcare and patient safety.
Mr. Issa completed a rigorous HPB and abdominal transplantation fellowship at Toronto General Hospital, University of Toronto, accredited by The Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA). His commitment to patient safety and healthcare management led to his appointment as an Associate Medical Director for Quality and Safety in 2023.

In addition to his track record in surgical achievements, he is an advocate of clinical research and has conducted pioneering research on angiopoietins in metastatic Gastrointestinal cancers during his NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at the University of Leeds. This research culminated in a PhD from the University of Leicester; and was granted with the NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship award in 2016.
His comprehensive healthcare approach cultivates cross-disciplinary partnerships with the Business School at the University of Birmingham and the Stoneygate Centre for Empathic Healthcare at the University of Leicester, exemplifying his commitment to holistic care.

With over 45 published papers and invitations to speak at national and international conferences, Mr. Issa strives to contribute to the advancement of surgical practices and patient well-being.
