Team HPB are back by popular demand, and on Saturday 18th June 2016, we are taking on the gruelling 100 mile bike ride challenge yet again raising money to support Pancreatic and Liver Cancer Research.

In 2015 – the Leicester to Hunstanton Charity Bike Ride raised an astonishing £42,544.17.  This year our aim is to not only match this incredible figure but to surpass this.  

The money raised is invaluable, supporting our ongoing research at the Leicester HPB Unit. The event is a fantastic team building exercise and involves patients, relatives, doctors, nurses, scientists, managers and friends of the trust and is enjoyed by everyone on the day. 

Pancreatic Cancer is a devastating disease that affects up to 8,000 people each year in the UK and it is the fourth most common fatal cancer in the UK. It is very difficult to treat at any stage due to the fact that it generally presents when quite advanced and therefore sadly the majority of patients cannot be cured. Liver cancers are most frequently caused by tumours which have spread from the bowel, and affect around 18,000 people each year.
